Trans-Caledon Tunnel Authority (TCTA) is a state-owned entity mandated by the Minister of Water Affairs and Forestry to implement and fund raw bulk water infrastructure to supply areas with limited water resources. In line with government's agenda for sustainable development, TCTA implements projects, from the development of economically sustainable funding models; to the design and implementation of environmental management and socio-economic strategies; through to the design of cost-effective and environmentally-sound infrastructure. TCTA's ‘product', namely bulk water infrastructure, lies at the foundation of development in South Africa. Without water, the capacity of a community to develop economically, socially and environmentally is drastically constrained. For this reason, sustainability remains a priority in all aspects of TCTA's business. TCTA remains pertinent in its commitment to rejuvenation, revival, renaissance and transformation within the project areas, public and private sectors, communities and individuals connected to TCTA.
